Happy Earth Day! Starting today, National Geographic’s brand new Global Action Atlas will feature five of our target projects from across the nation.  The Atlas spotlights a number of local, cause-related projects from around the world, giving individuals opportunities to take action by donating, volunteering, advocating, and sharing information.  Click the targets on the map below to find American Farmland Trust’s first five projects to be included on the Action Atlas….and keep checking back, because we’ll be adding more of our projects in the near future.

    Urban agriculture can mitigate the challenges posed by climate change in all ares of the country by reducing production and transportation costs and increase food security.

    By pushing Urban Agriculture we educate the greater populous and political and economic ability to the economic viability of local agriculture. Education and hard-nosed opposition to urban sprawl, along with the greater freshness and quality of local food will do more to address the loss of local farmland than anything.
